Have an Existing Business?   Owners of existing businesses can contact the SBDC for assistance and move immediately to FREE one-on-one counseling or training programs, including low cost training classes in key business skills.

Starting a New Business?   Sign up for BYOB ~ the Be-Your-Own-Boss workshop.  The workshop provides basic information on state, local and federal requirements for starting and operating a business.  There is a nominal fee for some classes.  

The Yuba College Small Business Development Center is available to the community to offer FREE, CONFIDENTIAL, one-on-one business consultations as well as low cost business training courses and workshops. We can offer referrals to specialized business information and resources. Bi-lingual business consultations are also available upon request. How we can help

• First Time Business Start-Up Information Workshop: A three-hour overview of what is required to successfully begin a business, including: business planning, permits/licenses, and taxes.
  
• Existing Businesses One-on-One Consultations: By appointment only. Our experienced consultants can guide you through: Business Planning, Marketing & Sales Planning, Sources of Financing, Government Procurement.
  
• Quick Books: A four-hour introduction that gives you an overview on how to set-up your business books, chart of accounts, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations.
  
• On-line Marketing: Individual or group consultations to assess your business’ readiness for promoting business using the internet.
  
• Micro-Enterprise/Small Business Training Program : A 14-week course series covering all aspects of owning and operating a business. Take individual workshops or the entire series. Topics include: Increasing your Revenue through Marketing, How to Improve your Cash Flow, Bookkeeping Made Easy, The Successful Loan Application, Using the Internet to Improve Your Revenue.

Here is how to do it

Call us at (530) 749-0153 or use our on-line scheduling.  We will ask you a few questions to determine the nature of your need.  We will set up an appointment for you either at a pre-business workshop, or for one-on-one counseling.  We offer appointments at our locations in Marysville, Woodland or Lake County.  We will do our best to make the appointment at a time and location convenient for you.

An SBDC counselor works with you to determine your individual business needs, and develop a scope of work based on your desired outcomes.  The counselor will direct you to research sources and review your business plan.

You can work at your own pace utilizing the resources you prefer.
